Re: Rodgers Savage Hudson NC
In Response To: Rodgers Savage Hudson NC ()
Hi there, I am also researching my Rodgers family history in Williamston, NC. My great-great grandfather was Anthony Rodgers, his wife was Della Yarrell Rodgers, his children were Dora(may be mispelled),Paul,Betty(my great grandmother),John Anthony,George, and Lizza Bell. They all were born and lived in Williamston(Bear Grass or Rodgers Town as it is called). My family is buried in the small cemetery on Rodgers School Rd next to the Elementary School that was property belonging to them. While I was doing my research I found lots of mispellings. In the 1880 census there name is listed as Rogerson. In other census records it's Rogers. But it is spelled Rodgers as is on the tombstones in the cemetery. There is a James Rodgers in the cemetery with his wife Cora. James Rodgers is on the 1910 census living with my great grandmother and her husband Charlie Stokes. He is abt 17yo at this time and listed as a nephew. I don't know who his parents were. It woul have been either Dora or Paul's son. Betty Rodgers Stokes children were Anna Bell(my grandmother) and George Stokes. John A Rodgers was married to Sylvania and his children were Della Amanda, John G, and Noah Rodgers. These are the only Rodgers I know with certainty are decendants of Anthony Rodgers in these generations. I was told there was a Arthur Ray Rodgers that is a cousin and recently I was Williamston at a cousin house on a different side of my family who lived next door to a Frankie Rodgers who said he was Arthur Ray's brother and probaly a cousin. I have a copy of will of Della she had acres of land in this area and one of her neighbors was a Little. We are probaly researching the same Rodgers family.
