I just recently learned that my illusive ancestor, Richard Devan supposedly owned 150 acres of land in Cape Girardeau County MO. This information apparently is on the 1870 census. Is there anyone that can check the deed index for Cape Girardeau MO and see if there is any record of Richard Devan owning the land and who he bought it from?

I'd greatly appreciate the information and the assistance.
