Samuel Spears served in the NC Continental Line 1778-1779, came to Hawkins County,TN ca. 1795 or so and could hardly have been anything but white.
My GONE TO TEXAS, TEXAS AND TENNESSEE SMITHS, Vol.III, 2000 describes what I jnew in 2000 of my Samuel Spears family.
