Re: BASKERVILLE, HERNDON help
![]() In Response To: Re: BASKERVILLE help ()
Hi James, Another researcher here - Kim, who is also researching Mecklenburg VA - surname Alexander, was kind enough to send me copies of the records from the Baskerville Plantation. The Alexander plantation was next-door to the Baskerville Waverly Plantation. Lloyd Smith, who is deceased, was another Alexander researcher and sent me my first leads on Baskerville slaves. There are quite a few posts here on Afrigeneas about Baskervilles - you need to use the search feature and check the main and slave research forum, also look at the surname index for other Baskerville researchers. I have never visited Mecklenburg - my Baskerville branch of the family are cousins, and I do research on them for my Aunt who is in her 90's. I do have some information on them on my web page. The delayed birth recods for some of your Herndons are indexed online at the Granville County GenWeb site: Herndon, James Edward 6 Feb 1885 M Drewry Herndon Sallie Hicks
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncgranvi/births/births1870-90.htm You need to check with the historical society and courthouse to find what records are available - also look at the GenWeb county site for more links. There is a Sally Hicks in 1880: Name: Sally Hicks
Hope this helps, Denise
