I'm hoping that someone can be of assistance to me. I have found my Great Great Great Grandmother Eliza Norris who was born in 1838 in South Carolina. I also know that her husband's first name was Buck although I've only seen Eliza in the census so far.

Eliza and Buck had a son named Sonny in 1859 SC but, the next child Marcus Norris was born in 1863 Harrison County, Marshall, Texas as well as four girls after Marcus. How can I find out if Eliza and Buck were free when they moved to Texas?

The 1880 Census says that Eliza is now a widdow and the birthplace of all of her children is also South Carolina. No, I have not yet traced Eliza nor Buck to a specific city in South Carolina.

Any clues and/or tips for me?
