Re: Brick Wall Roll Call - GILLETTE - Illinois - Cook County

Hiya,

What was James wife's name?

There is a listing in 1920 that could be him - wife Mildred(the index says Halders but it is Mildred- you mentioned a daughter Mildred) but didn't name the wife.
When was daughter Mildred born - the James I found has a son James Jr - but there is another child - a boy (who could have died).

Surnames get so distorted in census - take a look at:

Name: James L Gillispie
Home in 1920: Roland, Pulaski, Arkansas
Age: 23 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1897
BirthPlace: Arkansas
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouses's Name: Halders
Father's Birth Place: Arkansas
Mother's Birth Place: Mississippi
Marital status: Married
Race: Mulatto
Sex: Male
Home owned: Rent
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 364
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
James L Gillispie 23
Halders Gillispie 20
Geo B Gillispie 3
James L Gillispie 1

The fact that this James is listed as mulatto in 1920 and yours is listed as black in 1910 is also of no matter - different county, different census taker.

Keep as a possible?

Denise
