Norman, Dougherty, GA - Poss. Madison & Jefferson, FL
The following query was made by CNBEYLBEY@EARTHLINK.NET (no name was given)in 2000 "SEARCHING FOR GRANDFATHER'S FAMILY. NORMAN, ALBANY, GA, 1912. BELIEVE HIS PARENTS WERE ANNIE NORMAN AND PLEDGE NORMAN, SR. FATHERED 1 CHILD, FRED NORMAN, MY FATHER, TO OUR KNOWLEDGE. STORY GOES THAT ENTIRE NORMAN CLAN MOVED TO VARIOUS PARTS - UNKNOWN - IN GA., BUT POSSIBLY OUT OF STATE. OUR FAMILY HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY OTHER NORMAN'S IN ALBANY GEORGIA, OF COLOR. I WOULD LOVE TO FIND SOME LINK TO TRACE MY FATHER'S FAMILY TREE." Here are my findings: There were three Normans in Dougherty Co., GA, in 1930: Annie, Katie, and Junior. 1930 Census Dist 1097, Dougherty Co., GA
1930 Census Dist 945, Dougherty Co., GA
Katie was the only Norman in Dougherty in 1920. 1920 Census Dist 945, Dougherty CO., GA
I couldn't find a record of a Pledge/Pleadge Norman anywhere. COuld his name have been Pleas - short for Pleasant? Georgia Deaths, 1919-98 Record

If Pleas was Junior's father could he and Annie have divorced? I'm not trying to pry. I only raise this question because Pleas wasn't dead in 1920. Also, I couldn't find Annie or Junior anywhere in 1920. Pleas Sr is also nowhere to be found in 1920. I can't definitively say that Pleas is you ancestor, but it's a lead you might consider.
