Re: SCRUGGS,, BROWN, FREEMAN
The best two ways to start are by checking the Census Records with the names that you have so far. Also check with the public library in WIlliamson County. They have a special dept. that deals with geanologicial research. Also there are two African American ladies who live there who have done a lot of research into African American familes, specificially families that originiated from Franklin (area). When you call the library ask to speak to Geneva, she has been most helpful--so she is the only person I have chosen to deal with thus far at the library. The African American lady that I have spoken with--Thelma, when you call ask Geneva to give you her phone number, she is open to anybody calling her any day of the week.
None of the names that you listed have shown up on my family tree thus far. Also check out the State Archives and Library on 6th Ave No. and the Metro Archives Library in Green Hills. Email me anytime. Good luck. P.S. At each of those libraries they have birth, death, marriage certificiates, etc. You can also check the libraries for obits.
