Re: Brick Wall Roll Call - GILLETTE - Illinois - Cook County

James Gillette, born 1896 in Clark County, Arkansas, died 1959 in Chicago. This is my father's eldest brother who I never met, or any of his family.

I have his death certificate, information supplied from hospital records; he was widowed at the time of his death. Uncle James had two children, a son (James Jr) who died childless, and a daughter (Mildred) who had four children. (I have first names only, from a family reunion book, no father's name known - info supplied by another uncle who is deceased.)

Found James in 1900 and 1910 censuses and World War I registration in Clark County. Son's SS-5 states that he was born in 1921 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Recently found Uncle James in the Little Rock City Directory in 1923. He was not listed in subsequent directories, so I am assuming he moved to Chicago about then.

I also have his son's death certificate (1974), widow the informant. She died about 20 years later and I was unable to get her death certificate. But, a cousin called the funeral home which handled Jr.'s burial and they handled the widow's as well. She spoke by phone with the friend of the widow who handled the widow's funeral arrangement. No results.

I have not found James with his wife and children in any census. Found a possible marriage of the daughter to a BB Hollins, have no trace of her children.
