Re: What is the "real age" for our ancestors?

Thanks April for your thoughts. Last night I hit the same kind of thing. Yesterday I got the DC for my g uncle. I was sure that it would prove how old he was and when he came to Baltimore from Virginia. Since I had the DC from his wife, also from Virginia but another County,I was sure that I had a winner! I did what the researcher said, I compared all the information that I had: Census records for 1870/80/1900 and the Death Certificates stating how long they both lived in Baltimore etc. Then I looked at the age of their first child, born in Maryland. The possibilities were all over the map! 1. I'm going to put a lot of faith in the year of their first child being born in Maryland. 2. I'll need a calculator to figure out the rest. 4. I will also use my imagination and see if I can put myself in their shoes and see what it could have been in their minds at the time.
