I agree with what everyone has said. When you feel yourself getting frustrated you may need to redirect your search temporarily. Researching the places where my ancestors actually lived and worked, reading online newsletters and blogs, and reviewing the research I have done helps me to avoid frustration. One of my favorite new online resources is Google's online news search archive. I just found out about it yesterday, and it has given me several new research leads already.

Also, when you're with your mother or other older relatives just listen casually to what they are saying. As we're talking, my mother often mentions details of some long ago incidents that are insignificant to her but are very important to my research.

Finally, researching my family's history is a labor of love that does not leave me much room for frustration.
