Re: I am getting frustrated

I also have posted everywhere. Then I turned to mailing letter's to churches, members of historical societies in the community I am researching. I have a phone book from an area I did on site research. I sent the same letter to each surname like my family to everyone in that book. Then I came up with the idea of finding out what funeral homes still exist and sent them the same form letter. I found 2 families I am related to because somebody took the time to read my request. The recipient had passed it on and the cousins called. I've bought a lot of postage, but did get response every once and awhile, and I know the same letter is floating all over Monroe and Aberdeen MS. Some day somebody may pass it on and find my phone number, name and address. Everybody doesn't have computors and a lot of older people don't know about computor postings. You'd be surprised how many don't know about Afrigeneas. A letter with proof of why you are looking, is a private way of doing things. They will either be curious and respond or have the choice of staying unknown. Sometimes a phone call might be taken as someone trying to steal your identity. Oh yes in the form letter I send, I only give information about deceased members. Never about the living.
