I went on a tour to the SC areas you mentioned before I started getting really deep into the Pinckney name. There are Pinckney names all over the East Coast as well as some on the west. Many or descendants. All are not related of course. The 2 I found to be related, possibly to me, did respond with positive information. I am a member of the SC Genealogy Society and have sent info to the Pinckney Society as well as posted information in their newsletter. As I quoted before, even when I hit a positive responce, I just print out all info between us, document it in my family search. I havent been doing a lot of research lately, and my interest stopped due to other responsibilities. So I learned to understand how we genealogy researchers get a real charge to find a connection, and others dont really care. One family group had me all hung out there calling back and forth and even planning to make a trip to meet 'names I have seen on paper' still living". But in doing so I realized I MUST always travel safe. I would not know who I was facing if I had done so. You see games were being played, and the key person kept making excuses about not sharing photo's of themselves that I could verify by a 2nd way. So now I document even closer everything and am very greatful to any help Afrigeneas Angels give me. As for Hilton Head--it looks like it's becoming a gated golf course.

On the east side of I-95 at Hardeeville, SC is the Pinckney Community. Also, going onto Hilton Head Island, SC, the last island before crossing onto HHI is Pinckney Island. The Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge is located there.
This island is where Pinckney Island Plantation was, owned by Gen. Charles Cotesworth Pinckney. In 1818 he had 200 slaves and in 1840, 386. This island is in Beaufort Co., right along Colleton Co.
