Looking for any info anyone may have concerning the fate of Robert BROWN[c1860-?]. His mother was Frances LEWIS or BROWN, a resident of Natchitoches Parish and native of Richmond, Virginia. Frances was brought to Natchitoches Parish from New Orleans via a slave trader in Virginia in the 1850s. Robert BROWN and my maternal great-great grandfather,Marcellus MACK, were half-brothers. According to letters written to the editor of the "Southwestern Christian Advocate", a New Orleans newspaper from the 1880s, Robert BROWN was living in NOLA before heading to Louisville, Kentucky with his other siblings. Robert BROWN was described as a tall, fair-complected man by his uncle. His other siblings were also labeled as "mulatto" in some of the other census years. I suspect that their father was a planter named Taley D. BROWN of Natchitoches Parish.
This is a tangled branch of my family because many of my family members were split apart after being sold out of Virginia and sold to different places. Some also use different names.
