I don't know if it appropriate. But I put my gg grandfather's father in my tree. He was the slave owner and my gg grandfather's dad. But I put him in as partner instead of husband of my gg grandfather. I never knew her name.. But then I have another tree for the slave owmers family.They did not keep good records of slaves births before 1870, if they were not free. He was not free. Family sources of the slave owners family have taken the Y-DNA test and so have my brother taken the Y-DNA test and we are exact matches. That's our proof and we were told by word of mouth that we were related while growing up in that area.
