You know, cousin Brenda... all you had to do was ask. Delilah (also referred to as "Lila"), born about 1858, was the daughter Delaware Beverly. The Beverly & Pin/Pen families out of Amherst, were "Monacan Indian". The record only show her mother as "C. Beverly". Delilah married Reuben Hughes in or about in/about 1874 (before black/mulattos) were listed by race, at the courthouse. The 1870 census show Delilah (listed as white)residing with her brother Lafayette Beverly, and his wife. 1870 United States Federal Census
Reuben and Delilah had 4 known chillins. They were: Charles Henry, Hannah, Mildred, and Mary Magdeline. These children married into the "Strange, Giles, Diggs, and Durrett" families, to name a few. Robert Ross appears to be a nephew. 1880 United States Federal Census
