Right Now I am so thorughly confused with 'what if questions' in my mind until, I dont he want to think about Pickney. My Pinkney's actually were first found on the 1880 census as PINCKSTON. Then the next census it was Pinkney. Knowing that the family parents Harriet Vance and Henry were x slaves..I assumed the name changing came about from the census taker Or the family changed to Pinkney. Somebody who could read or write did this. Everytime I have found them in SC and Ga. the spelling was Pin(c)kney...with r without the c as a surname. I have seen information on Genealogy Bank with the first name of Pinkney. But I had to stay on one trail of info.
Still there must be something there, because out of all the children and the family descendants, this is one name-so far-where no one has found my postings. It may happen in any time period--years - but at least it is out here...waiting.
