Re: Bell - Christopher genealogy

It doesn't say on the death certificate. I'll have to look through old newspapers of the time to see if it's mentioned. She died from complications a week after the attack. I'm not sure on the other McGregor families, but I am pretty sure that Jackson MacGregor had been one of the slaves of Rheese (or Reese) McGregor. Rheese was a senator of Georgia at the time. He did not have a large estate, I believe at one point he had eight slaves total. He did not have a plantation or a large enough estate to account for all of the McGregor lines in Polk County. However, his brother Samuel I believe did have a larger estate, and there were a couple other McGregor estates in Georgia. So I agree, the other McGregor lines are probably not related to Jackson McGregor. Also, I'm pretty sure that the Emeline McGinnis who was next door to Rheese McGregor in 1870 in Polk Co is Caroline's mother and the three children living with her are Caroline's siblings. Jackson and Caroline are living next door to Rheese and Emeline in 1870. Messages In This Thread
