We are searching for information on my husband's family of Mattison, Nickerson, Stricklin (in Alabama). I have gotten back to 1880 with Stricklin and am not sure if he took a name from a slave owner. I do not know if Cudgo or his wife Dinah were slaves. I would like to learn more about African American History.
