Hmmmm....I wonder where he was between the time he esacaped and the time he just "appears" with a wife and child? (I'm sure you do too - grin) Do you think there is a possibility the WRINKLE is not his surname - that he borrowed it from some folks who adopted him in Canada - or some other scenario? He had to have been quite young when he ran off - I don't know much Canadian history - but I wonder what kind of societies were around to help escaped slaves? At that age he had to have gotten a job as an apprentice, or servant to someone in order to eat. At some point - he had to have been around to meet and court his wife. I know that my black grandfather met his white wife while he was working for a wealthy white family - they were both servants in the same household. Then they had to run off to get married where it was legal. Just some thoughts...sorry can't be more helpful, Denise
