Scott "Elude" Washington
By:Seventies Soulchild
Date: 11/9/2011, 7:51 pm This ancestor couldn't have had a better name! Scott Elude Washington was the half brother of my great grandfather Will Washington. Their father Scott sr. had a total of 10 known children, eight of whom left Mississippi. Scott Elude was one of those children. Scott Jr. was born on 2 March 1887 in Woodville (Wilkinson), MS. He as many men during that time completed a draft card for WW I. At the time he was residing in Sibley (Adams), MS near his father Scott. After the war was over, Scott and another brother Chester Arthur and Chester's wife Leatha(nn) moved to Muskogee, OK. Scott remained in Muskogee with Chester and Leatha(nn) at least through 1930. During the 1930's he joined the WPA and moved to Detroit, (Wayne) MI. He also filled out an old man's draft card for WW II and filed for a social security number while living in Michigan. During the final years of his life, Scott moved to Tennessee to be near another brother Dr. Benjamin Washington of Blount County, TN where he died in February 1963. As you can see, Scott "Elude" was very elusive and I wouldn't have ever connected the dots if I hadn't done some of the following:
Hope that this helps someone who may be looking for folks who love to move, like me and mine. Messages In This Thread
