Get a map, LOL. Campbell County VA is next to Pittsylvania. My line was originally Pannill but changed to Pannell somewhere between WWl and WWll. What is really interesting if you check Pittsylvania County records around the late 1800's and early 1900's is that the name was very popular in the area. I believe that the white families that owned slaves and property in that area crossed county and state lines more than in any other area that I have researched. A lot of my Halifax Cty VA folks crossed the NC line and a lot of my Pittsylvania folks moved around in Campbell, Halifax, and Henry County. I also believe that another current version of Pannill/Pannell is Pennell. I have seen the name around and when I asked people about it, they would say that they are not sure but that their grandfather or great grandfather came from somewhere in Southwest VA. I've got some additional stuff around here somewhere. Let me see what else I can find. Perhaps we can make a connection pre-civil war. That would be neat!
Peace and Blessings.
