From the (Baton Rouge) State Times, December 28, 1972:
SADLER, BEN REV. THE
Died Sunday, December 24, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Ethel, he was 78 year [sic] old. He was a Master Mason and member of Jupiter Lodge 189. Body at Cox Funeral Home with wake services at New Galilee Baptist Church in Scotlandville from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Religious services at New Galilee Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by Rev. Horace Early, Sr. Burial in Plank Road Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emmerline Foster Sadler; two sons, SFC Benjamin Sadler of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and Robert Sadler, Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mary Sadler Thomas and Lucille Sadler Anderson, both of Baton Rouge; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
