John Rice Price 1864, smith co., tx

I am trying to find John Rice Price or J R Price. I can only find proof of him in 1900 smith county, tx. He was supposedly born around 1864 in Smith or Wood County, Texas. He was an illegitimate child. So, I'm trying to find his mother's information too. He married Delia Harris in 1885 in Smith County. I would also love to find his death certificate or where he is buried. Delia died in 1901 and was buried in smith county (flewellen cemetery).

His father was Rice Price. he died Jun 29, 1925 in Wood Co., Texas. There are two different family history versions on him, so I'm not sure which one is correct.
Version 1: He died when he was 108 years old. He was a slave until he was 28 years old. He was a buggy driver for the slave owner (Price), a doctor. They lived in or around Hawkins, Texas.
Version 2: He was born around 1847 in Alabama as a slave. He came to Texas in 1850. He was freed in Starrville, TX in 1863 at the age of 16. He later came to Hawkins, TX. He married Jane Cooper and had six kids. He helped build the T&P railroad through Hawkins, TX. He also worked as a farmer and blacksmith. He purchased more than 300 acres of land in Hawkins, TX. He was one of the founders of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hawkins, TX. His children are: Sam Price Sr., Sally Price, Lulu Price, Arcie Price, Leota Price and Rice Price Jr.

I'm assuming that Rice Price Sr. had John Rice Price (illegitimate son) before he had his six kids with wife Jane (including another Rice Price Jr. born 1879 or 1882).

I would really appreciate any information anyone can find on John Rice, or his mom.

Thank you,
