My son showed me that he found other Chastangs on the internet.
My father was named John Jacob Chastang and was born in Mobile, AL on July 25, 1893. He was raised in an orphanage in Mobile and as a young man, moved to New Orleans, LA. In approximately 1920, he moved to Pittsburgh, PA where he lived until his death in October 1968.

I do not know much about his family except that he had a sister named Maude. I know that he visited family members in Alabama regularly and generally came back to Pittsburgh with large bags of pecans. If anyone knows anything else about my father, please let me know.
