Re: Tazwell Baskerville
In Response To: Re: Tazwell Baskerville ()

Papers from the Baskerville Plantation will be private records kept by the owner(s) of the plantation and if they survived will either be housed in someone personal collection or in a repository i.e. historical society, state/university library, etc.

Doing research at the county level would be the best strategy on researching your ancestors. You need to find out who owned the land and the nature of the owner(s) interactions with your ancestors.

If you have not so already, I would strongly encourage you to check out A Genealogist's Guide to Discovering Your African-American Ancestors. It is a great resource guide that will assist in developing an effective strategy for conducting this research.
