Re: Bloomfield, W.M., Mercer Cnty, NJ, brn abt 190

@Arlene, thank you for the census searches. I'm looking into all of the surnames of the subsidiary folks in the households as well. It's a unique situation but in time with persistence I'll obtain more information to work with. The birth certificate literally said W M Bloomfield. I'm still searching for confirmation that my ggpa is in fact named William and where he was born... I just ordered my grandmother's SS-5 application in hopes that she wrote down her fathers name to the question on the application. Does anyone have any other suggestions for official records of my grandmothers that would contain her fathers name? The death certificate has been a pain to obtain in Suffolk County, NY because of stringent rules. She was born in 1930... I am awaiting a letter from the funeral home to send along for my grandfathers military records from NARA. Hopefully there will be marriage dates included in his records to obtain the marriage license which usually lists the parents names as well!

@Art, I'm glad we've connected on Afrigeneas and 23andme. I'm reading up on Rene Laforce of Goochland, VA and the Kentucky connection. My great grandfather Harry James Austin Sr. b. 1892 in Bowling Green, Kentucky d. 1948 Richmond, Indiana happens to be another thorn. On the marraige license to my ggma Marietta Rickman of Indiana, I learned Harry's parents names. William Austin and Mary Starks. But I'm still working on vital statistics. Anyone experienced with Kentucky records? Apparently they did not track births for Harry in Kentucky in 1892. Any suggestions to learn his parents vitals or move the search along?

Thanks all,

Hope
