Benjamin Wilson Knox (1855-1937), Samuel Lee Knox (1865-1920), and Effie Knox, were siblings born somewhere in North Carolina. Benjamin was listed in Phillips County, Arkansas, in the 1880 census. I cannot find either brother, at all in the 1870 census. I also cannot find Samuel at all in the 1880 census. Both brothers were in Phillips County, Arkansas in 1900. In 1908, Benjamin migrated to Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and opened a bath house.
Benjamin's death certificate in 1937, in Carroll County, Missouri, stated that he was born in "Rolla, North Carolina." It also stated that his mother's maiden name was Cowan, and his father's surname was Knox. It also stated that he was Presbyterian all of his life. I cannot find the death certificate for Samuel Knox. However, Samuel's youngest daughter, Effie Knox's birth certificate stated that Samuel was born in "Roan Co. N Car."
Does anyone have any information, ideas, or suggestions, on finding Benjamin, Samuel, and Effie in the 1870 census, or any other records?? It's possible that Effie married someone with the surname of Waddell, Wardell, or something similar. I searched numerous marriage records in North Carolina for an Effie Knox to anyone with the Wardell, Waddell surname, to no avail. Thanks for any information, ideas, or suggestions anyone can provide.
Malcolm S Knox
