I have done well on ancestry finding my mother's relatives. I have been able to go back to the 1870 census and find my great, great, great grandfather. I see him with his wife and their children. I can then trace their son as my great grandfather's father whose name was Albert Winston. However, I am now stumped. My great, great, great grandfather is Alex Winston. I found him in Tn when I had been looking in Al which is where my great, great grandfather ended up. Alex was in Shelby Co. (Memphis). I know that Albert ended up on the Winston Plantation in Valleyhead, Al which was the home of William O. Winston. I know William O. had a brother or brothers in Tn but not sure if they were in Shelby Co. I am stumped as to finding Alex before 1870. Not sure if he belonged to William O. or one of his brothers. What do I do now? Any ideas on how to find Alex?
