Ann McMurtry appears to have been pregnant when she married Hezekiah Hargrave in 1785 in Rutherford Co NC and when her daughter Hannah was born, Hezekiah apprenticed the baby out to William England who transferred her to John Birney who transferred her to William Birney. William Birney took her to Ouchaita Louisiana in 1797. In 1815, William's widow Ann Birney testified that Hannah was freeborn and the daughter of Ann Hargrave a white woman. In 1810, William Birney had set Darcas, wife of Charlow, free from his care.

I am trying to find a great grandchild or a great great granchild of Darcas and Charlow Roi. A Family Finder DNA sample from such a descnednat could prove if Darcas and Hannah are the same person.
