I am researching the family of my great-great-grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Johnson (Fountain), born in 1848 in Jefferson, MD. Her parents were Thomas and Matilda Johnson and were both slaves, but at this point, I don't know much more about them than that, as I have not been able to trace them. The only sibling I know of is a brother, Charles, who was a minister, who migrated to Dauphin, Co, PA with her in the early 1900's.

I'm hoping to connect with those who are from the Jefferson area who may be related, or have historical knowledge about the area that would help me in my search for information.
