Evans of South Carolina

Let me begin with Ike Evans, my uncle who was born about 1898 in Abbeville, S.C. He lived throughout his years in Honeapath, Anderson County,N.C. along with his wife and a daughter he adopted. He died in 1996. He, along with his brother John Evans (1896-1962)and a sister Jessie (1900-?) were the first set of children born toJoe Evans and Mary Vance also of Abbeville, S.C.
According to a research, Joe Evans was married three times: one to another Mary where he had four children, and to a Laura. Joe died in 1914. Joe was the son of a painter named William Evans, as seen in the 1880 census of Abbeville, S.C.
Mary Vance was the daughter of Frank Vance of Abbeville, S.C. To make a long story short: John Evans was my father; Joe and Mary were my grandparents; William, father of Joe, and Frank Vance and Sophie, mother of Mary, were my greatgrandparents. So there you are.
Joseph
