Re: Northrup Family, Clarke Co AL
In Response To: Re: Northrup Family, Clarke Co AL ()
Thank you, Ms. Denise for your insight concerning my Great-Great Grandmother, Mrs. Abby Beatrice Northrup (or spelling could be Nortfort). I know the above mentioned person was married to a William Smith. It seems as if her parents were named Tommie (Tony) Northrup, abt. 1856, and her mother, Luiza Northrup, abt. 1850. Her father was born in Alabama and Mom born in North Carolina. I've learned in 1876 her parents were married for 24 years. in the 1900 her family was residing in “Precinct 21 Choctaw Corner, Clarke, Alabama" but, also lived in Thomasville, AL. Together they had the following children: Minnie Northrup, abt. July (daughter) 1881; Rosie, 1884; Lee (daughter) 1886; Abbie September 1887/1888; Vernon, 1891; Fair (son) 1894; Lona 1896; Juda (daughter) 1898; Lena (daughter) 1900. Foot note: They had 16 children, 1900 only 13 were accounted for. I do recall learning that Abby later married to a William Smith, they had 4 sons; Roosevelt, abt. 1912Willie Anthony, abt. 1915; Lemorris, abt. 1917; Counsel, abt. 1918 all born in Thomasville, AL. Mr. William Smith, was married twice, once to Abby and Alwine (Norfort (spelling)).
Happy New Year, and I await any information.
