Hello Khalisa,

Yes, Seventies Soulchild gave some good advice and a plan that all of us 'budding' genealogist's could use to our advantage. Your concern about faulty information being found at online databases is well taken, not only personal databases and websites, but "official" governmental websites.

Trust, but verify and knowing that a single document alone may not "prove' the truth of any single event is the key. Your plan to review and revisit websites is very solid and timely as many online record sets are being updated and images of those actual records are becoming more available. I know you research in Ohio and FamilySearch has updated 10 of their Ohio record sets in 2011 alone. These updates have helped me tremendously in citing information where I previously had only "????" for events, names, dates & locations.

Best wishes and continued success as you prepare for the 1940 census records. ;)

I like to see the real documents for myself when possible That being said it is a good reminder to revisit the digital indices periodically. With the 1940 census arriving soon I will probably use that time to circle back to many of the things I put to the side. I suspect I will have lots of new puzzles to unravel after taking a look."
