Re: Cummins/Cummings of AL connections
In Response To: Cummins/Cummings of AL connections ()
I have not come upon those names, but I have not seen anyone else research this surname/line. I'm just now beginning (and at a stall on) my search on/for Cummings/Cummins.
My paternal grandfather's mother was a Cummings, I have not confirmed it, but I think the Margaret Cummings b. abt. 1895 and living in Camp County, Texas is my great grandmother.
I searched this Cummings family in records, if it proves this is MY Cummings, then the work is already done and ready to be put in my tree. Here are some notes I have for this family:
This Cummings family was originally from Georgia where the patriarch Benjamin Cummings (abt. 1820) and the matriarch Julia (birth changes from abt. 1843 [1870 census] to abt. 1830 [1880 census]) were born (including their children), they most likely were taken to Texas and settled in Upshur County during slavery (CW), Upshur became Camp County between 1870 and 1880.
No Ala connections but I thought this could help.
