Thank you for your replies. I'm afraid I don't have anything on Reuben Dalton -- my research is confined almost entirely to Stokes Co., but it's true that the Daltons and Martins really got around. Also, the Tatums are mostly up in Patrick Co., which is where Seth was from, but he married in Stokes.

As for the Stokes Goldens, they are most likely descended from Alexander Golden, who was born around 1845. I think his father was his owner, Reuben Davis Golding, a Stokes Co. farmer, merchant and manufacturer who was my ancestor. I have traced Alexander's descendants to the generation born in the 1920s. If you have any names, I'll be happy to look them up in my records and share what I know about their ancestor.
