I forgot to tell u, there is a Martin/Dalton family reunion that is for the desendents of Reuben Dalton who the census shows arount 1870 and the desendants of Catherine Johnson who was born reportedly on what is know Chinqua Penn plantation around the same time. Grandma Catherine reportedly was the daughter of that landowner before Jeff Penn bought the land in the early 20th century. The family reunion is held around July 4th and could be an excellant resource for your book. I is held at Farris Park in Madison NC.
