Re: BELL in Polk~Floyd GA & Calhoun AL
In Response To: BELL in Polk~Floyd GA & Calhoun AL ()
My Great Grandmother, Jane Christopher married Squire Bell around 1862 and they lived in Clay County Alabama. By 1870, she was living with her parents in Floyd Conty Georgia and shortly there after, Grandma Jane, her children and her parents moved to Buncombe, Polk Georgia and then to Aragon, Polk County, Georgia. Around 1882, Grandma Jane married George Lattimore. My Grandfather, Thomas Henry Bell and his family, several siblings and in-laws (Adrines) moved to Akron, Summitt County, Ohio around 1916. Several years ago, I called Polk county in an effort to find a death certificate for Jane Christopher Bell Lattimore or her husband to no avail. I only know that she was with the family on the 1920 census in Akron, but there is no evidence of her death in Summitt County, Ohio or in Polk County, Georgia. Thomas Henry Bell died in 1926 and his wife, my Grandmother, Maggie Adrine Bell, died in 1927. I know nothing about Great Grandfather, Squire Bell and his (assumed) death in Clay County, Alabama. His name appeared only on the 1870 census for Township 20, Range 9, Clay, Alabama. Interestingly, as an aside, I recently found out that three other members of the Indiana African American Genealogy Group are researching family members in the Polk and Floyd County, Georgia area.
