Update Info

I had not been able to find any additional info on Azra's husband, Willie Hanna until a few days ago. It does not pay to assume. I had assumed that Azra's husband, Willie was born in CT. WRONG! He was actually born in Chesterfield, SC, the same place that Azra was born and raised in.

Upon searching through the Connecticut death index, I saw that they actually listed Azra in the index although she died in Nash County, NC from injuries in a car accident. It stated that she died out of state in NC in July 1970. I also saw another Hanna female, Leo Bittle Hanna who died in June 1970 who also died in NC.

I went back to the NC death certificates and I found a gold mine. The accident occurred on June 6, 1970 and Azra died July 29, 1970. Then I went searching for Leo and there she was. She died instantly in a car accident in Nash County on June 7, 1970. There is a day difference in the date of the accident. Leo was a passenger in the car and died instantly. I went to the census records and found Leo with her parents (Isaac and Sarah). She was with them in 1910 and 1920. Then in 1930 she had married Dock Hanna and one of their children was "Wille Hanna" This was Azra's husband. Willie was 3 years old. Willie did not die from the accident.

The 1930 census gave me additional info on Willie's siblings, Rudolph and Duncan. I did some searching and have found some leads on Duncan. Hopefully, I will be able to find out if Azra and Willie had children or if she had any from a previous marriage or relationship.

Sorry to be so long, but sometimes when you tell the story and the strategy it helps others with their researching.

The lesson for this week, "Never assume."
