Re: IN SEARCH OF THE ROBERT SMALLS DESCENDANTS

That Robert Smalls is known for the same one listed in Beufort, S.C.; he was a slave on the McKee Plantation with his mother; and he was free, but during the CivilWar, he commandeer a ship called the Planter and helped the Union Troops. He had married someonenamed Hannah, who had two daughters. Now as I go on with this, allow me to bring up names like William White Williams, Furman Williams, Beulah Williams Salley, her daughter Maudell, all from Orangeburg. Alsowithin that Smalls family is one of those related to Smalls whose name was Gaither, and fromthat Gaither family came one Catherine Gaither of N.C. who married a Richard Coleman of Virginia, and they had a daughter Katie, and Katie married Randolph Bell, and had Patricia. The Smalls-Jones often have reuions almost every year, however I have not heard from them. Will talk more later. Joseph
