Re: Edward Fox in Northern VA

Thanks for the additional information about the family of Jemima A. Fox. I’m still not certain that she is the same woman who by 1870 was married to Aaron Wise of Shenandoah, VA. I made a quick search for a trace of Jemima’s son Edward Fox. If his Yankee soldier father was white, I wondered if perhaps he was living with a white family. I found two possibilities for Edward Fox, both identified as white. The census information could refer to the same white boy, Edward B. Fox, a son of Jonas and Catherine Fox in Luray, VA. Or possibly these entries refer to two different boys, and perhaps the one who knew “nothing of home” could be Jemima’s son? Jemima, her son James, and her parents, William and Hannah, were all identified as "mulatto" in census 1850-1860. Jemima Wise, wife of Aaron Wise in Shenandoah, VA, also identified as mulatto, was the same age as Jemima A. Fox, daughter of William and Hannah in Loudoun County, VA.
