Re: Robertson & Baxter Families of MD
In Response To: Re: Robertson & Baxter Families of MD ()
Dawn I can not thank you enough for all the trouble you have gone to to help me find my Robertson family.
I am not really sure with all of these Robertson's however I think the 1850 Census Falmouth - Barnstaple Co MA does seem to fit.
An Ervin Robinson adn Elinor Robinson with a son named Barnabus which could be Frank ??? He was the same age and he is also a Mariner.
My Frank Robertson was in Australia already in 1856 so any after this time is not mine. Irvin Robertson was recorded as a Farmer according to his son's marriage cert here in Australia. Perhaps the family did move around a lot and Frank being the eldest? has left home before the census. He would have been around 16 - 17 years of age. Perhaps he was a Seaman at this early age like a ship deck hand.
In regard to Eleanor Baxter I only found two on the LDS site - Both born in Baltimore. One in 1795 and the other was 1785? The 1795 one was the daughter of Nicholas Baxter and Sarah Perrigo. Still I am not able to prove descent from either.
Once again thank you so much and I appreciate your help so very much. I have a Frank Robinson as mentioned on the ship WHirlwind in 1855 which sailed from New York. He was aged 22 and a Seaman. I do feel it is my ancestor. I wonder if he called himself Frank Francis to get rid of the Barnabus name... I wonder.
Let me know what you think of all of this information. Best Wishes and hope to hear from you again soon. Daniel/.
