Hi Damon: Thanks for the response, and I am so happy to hear of our relationship. My GGGrandfather John B. Chestang was the son of Auguste (Oligive) Chestang, there is very little information on Auguste b. 1787 because the last names have been misspelled so many ways. Over the years of researching I have found that he did serve in the War of 1812 and he is always shown on the census as living near his brother Zenon. However, I can't find any information on who he was married to or when he died. He is memtioned in his Brothers Zenon
John was such a common name used in the Chestang family, therefore I can only trace my GGGrandfather John (JB) chestang from his service in the Civil War, then when he moved to Jackson County Mississippi where my Great-Grandfather Emile, Grandfather Charlie and Father Charles were born and raised. I would love to get of the family history that you have. I have been sent a copy of Auguste Chestang birth resgistration written in Spanish, it does show Louison as his mother.
