The Long Reaching Arm of AfriGeneas
I received the message below from a person who is just beginning their journey into Family History & Genealogy. A posting on AfriGeneas from 2010 was a help on that journey. We made contact and I was able to relate stories about her family from my youthful days in Piqua, Ohio and even able to share a picture from ca 1943-1944 with her father as a member of the youth choir "Whispering Echos" from Piqua, Ohio.
So don't underestimate the power of AfriGeneas and know that your postings may not only be informative, but are often of tremendous help to fellow researchers in their genealogical journey.
Afrigeneas, THANK YOU!!!!!!
"Hi Art, forgive me for contacting you this way but I have been researching my family tree since I did my dna on ancestry. I found something you wrote a while ago, 2010 regarding Arthur Smith on a forum. My father was Arthur B. Smith Jr who was born in Piqua Ohio, you had mentioned that his younger brothers Jackie and Richard were your playmates. I have been trying to do research regarding Canada because I know Arthur Smith SR was from there. Are there any free sites where I can find Canadian records? I actually found a first cousin who lives in CA by doing my dna. Her mom is Joan Smith. I never knew my fathers family but once I started researching, it was hard to stop! Any tips you could give me would be appreciated.
