Old text books with children's names

Hello, I found 4 very old textbooks in a falling down one room school house in Virginia about 15 years ago. The school was located above a tobacco purchasing office (or so I was told) and was on what was formerly a tobacco plantation. The books are in terrible condition but inside I found the names and addresses of what I assume were the children who owned the books through the years. I was told by a local that the school was for the children of African American sharecroppers so I'm assuming these are the names in the books. The names date from around 1897-1905. Would these names be something someone could use to research their family history. If so where should I take them or who should I speak with about making them available to those wishing to do this research. I am located in Houston Texas but I would be willing to ship them to a museum or school. As I said the books are in terrible condition and I would like to give them to an organization that can conserve them or at least properly document the information they contain. Any ideas would be appreciated :)

Thanks
Michael Cook
