Re: Why A Discuss Board?
In Response To: Why A Discuss Board? ()

lol,
real simple, for raising consciousness and awareness. it's agiven we're not 1 dimensional beings who live soley for genealogy, paradoxically genealogy is intrinsically relalated to many dimensions of existance, social, political etc behaviors, these are just some of characteristics that we discover about ancestral research and how our ancestors solved some of these issues and where they made mistakes in all facets of their lives.thus it seem logical we of this time would discuss these things relational in an in an open forum "respite" along with the benign issues that that some favor.
now, i've discussed the invitation to the discussion forum eons ago, for this is redundant, it seems the agenda is to maintain the board as some "respite" for benign conversation, then the invitation should have read so.
open discussion boards get hot, and if people aren't available to monitor the board with objectivity in compliance with the invitation, there are solutions for that, also.
shutting down reveals says something just as keeping it open does, so it's up to you all to say what you mean, mean what you say.
as far as storage space goes, if you're running your own server, i'm sure you're aware hard drives are cheap, or switch to scsi, then you can add up 16 drives, but if you have someone else managing your server then perhaps it time to grow, do for self, of course it's subject to you all's priorities
we all know that open discussion boards get hot sometime, even restricted ones get hot, it's natural and to be expected, after all the world is by no means benign or tame, so why do we get frustrated and consider quiting when the real world shows up, what does that say; i'm not suggesting that it should be buckwild up in here but conflict, disagreement, etc is based in reality. we can choose to learn from it or run from it
now, i suspect some folx get frustrated with me and i'm ok with that, cuz, when one is challenged to think "outside the box" it can be disturbing, but my intention is always to challenge folx to learn more, be informed, and that we sharpen one another up with knowledge in whatever topic we choose. but some people have difficulty when things get heated and get intimidated out of what could be a learning experience, some people be talking out the side of neck, and get roasted, nevertheless we even learn from these incidents.
it's a fallacy to think that any discussion of any type is going to be free of conflict, challeges, mistakes etc ; so perhaps a solution may be found in refinement of the response to these characteristics
i'm actually kinda puzzeled, cuz, how can folx be afraid of "controversey" here, the biggest controversy for me is having to look for my ancestors in slave and animal manifest, or having that search drop off into oblivion because others felt we weren't human, or because of identity theft, etc
our very history is controversial here the us, up to this day. polyannaism only set us all up for continued primitive social interaction amongst all peoples.
