Dear Afrigenas Friends,
I like our ideas. My concern is that because the topics can be controversial, there is a need to make some type of statement about the etiquette that goes along with expressing confrontational remarks that are offensive. Confrontational remarks, while they may not be lewd, are hurtful .That may be a big reason why many people don't have the nerve to post to Discuss!Forum.
Perhaps we can say...WE MUST DISCUSS!NOT CONFRONT!
OUR ANCESTORS DESERVE NO LESS
I completely enjoy this forum when we are presenting our points and yet acting like friends not enemies.
I know there is a fine line between censorship and open discussion but this is a family site.We are representing ourselves to all web users as examples of clear thinking African Americans. Every time we post we(me included of course) need to think about how our words will be received by a wider audience. Will my words bring dignity to my ancestors? If I can answer that question with a yes,no matter what side of the issue I am on,I will be able to live with myself. In essence, I feel that we should hold ourselves to a higher standard then we have in the past. Our ancestors deserve no less.
