Re: Farms & Farming
In Response To: Farms & Farming ()

I just caught the tail end of the program this morning when they joined hands and said a prayer for themselves, but mainly for their enemies. I thought I was in church, joining in and everything. I did get a chance to see 'African American Memorabilia in Museum Display' this afternoon. Now that was good. It really had me thinking, because one statement/(question) was 'why do we collect black memorabilia?' It was something to think about. I mean if you see a cookie jar in a window of Aunt Jemima, would you be 'mad or in a rush to buy it and display it in your house?' I have a collection of All God's Children figurines, they weren't made by an African American, but the pieces were/are nice, they reminded me of a time of when my grandmother was young and living in Arkansas (well, it could have been her life anyway,Pictures I purchased from a black art show, one of a old man sharing a glass of water with what looks like could be his grandson in a mason jar, and one of a older black woman, dressed in what looks like 'slavery day attire' letting her granddaughter sleep in her lap while she gently rocks her. I purchased them because of my genealogy hobby, it inspires me. Does anyone here collect African America Memorabilia? Also tonight on C_Span 2 at 11:13 pm eastern time the Legacy of the Underground Railroad will air...I will be right there.

Dena.
