AfriGeneas Discuss! Forum Archive 2

Re: Why A Discuss Board?
In Response To: Re: Why A Discuss Board? ()

I have learned so much from Afrigeneas! The information that I have gathered from the Discuss Forum is certainly meaningful. It helps to keep me culturally grounded and aware of current events that are important to all of us.

My wish would be that the Discuss Forum still exist but with much stronger guidelines. I do understand that the responsibilty for monitoring a more restrictive format would be much more time consuming and even with our dedicated volunteer monitors that would be far more difficult to manage.

For example...Would it help at all to put a word limit on our postings, there are some message boards that only provide a defined space for your posting,is that possible? Could we have clearer guidelines that say what is/is not acceptable in a posting? Could the monitors say that their decision about an issue is a FINAL one instead of those of us that post "second guessing" why someones posting was or was not removed?

I am sure that my questions are far too simplistic but I feel that this forum can be a stimulating intellectual resting place for minds that need to talk about more than finding Aunt Susie in the 1870 census...smiles.

I am a loyal Afrigeneas supporter and will be understanding of what ever decision is made.Thank you for volunteering to monitor our thoughts on such passionate issues. I deeply appreciate the fact that you asked for our input on this matter.

Sincerely,
gail swan
