Re: Why Say 'NO' To Sotomayor
In Response To: Re: Why Say 'NO' To Sotomayor ()

Spivey,
How can you ignore the racists history of the US Supreme Court? There have been only four non white males ever on the court in its history. Its history, again but for the Warren years ,is full of racists ,unfair, pro business decisions. Again in the early years it was dominated by slaveholders who used their position to justify slavery.
The "Dred Scott Decsion", The "Slaughterhouse Cases",U.S. v. Reese, U.S.v. Cruikshank both in 1875,all these Supreme Court cases. 1883 the Supreme Court struck down an act of Congress ,the Civil Rights Act of 1875.
The Supreme Court's infamous ruling in "Plessy v. Ferguson, greenlighting "Jim Crow" and other cases in 1895 approving the disenfranchisement of blacks by Southern states under the guise of "states rights".
It took a century to overturn those court rulings through legislative action and court battles and executive action.
My earlier question had been directed as follows given the fact that other than 4 non-white male jurists the Supreme Court has been all white males and historicaly has been racists what is the evidence that white males can be fair if elevated to the highest court.Again there has been only one period where "people" received a fair and equal treatment by the court and that period was the "Warren " years and conservatives would say that court was wrong.
